Bronwen Serna - Lead AST for Barista Intermediate and Customer Service

Bio: Bronwen Serna loves coffee and people. She has been a practicing Coffee Professional since 2000, an instructor, and volunteer in the coffee industry since 2001. Her love of coffee precedes her experience, where she manages to frequent many coffeehouses all over the world and be- came a Barista after having drunk many cups of coffee and inspired by a trip to Italy. Over the past 18 years she has facilitated in developing training programs and trained many Baristas, coffee professionals, and coffee enthusiasts internationally about Specialty Coffee, Customer Service, and coffeehouse operations. Her coffee experience started in Seattle at Zoka Coffee Roaster & Tea Company where she helped managed retail operations and trained staff in the art of espresso and coffee and customer service. She continued to further her craft at Hines Public Market Coffee/Origins Organic Coffee. She developed her roasting skills and knowledge at Vashon Coffee Company, has been a Professional Barista and Barista Trainer at various Seattle coffee institutions, and a Certified Instructor and Assessor with The Specialty Coffee Associa- tion.
In 2015 she moved to Singapore to take over as Director of Coffee & Education for The New Black, a high-end multi-Roaster Specialty Coffee concept and helped established SG PowWow, a local organization focused on educating and bringing together coffee professionals in Singapore’s Specialty Coffee community. In 2016 she became Director of Coffee/Coffee Gunner for Crackerjack and brought her passion, expertise, and experience to build a unique, fun, and quality driven coffee menu and assisted in developing the Coffee Program for Proof & Company Collective. She helped instill as much passion for coffee as they have for spirits.

CURRENT:
Currently working as an Independent Consultant in Specialty Coffee and Hospitality, she contin- ues to build excitement and knowledge for clients and coffee professionals in the international Specialty Coffee scene.
She continues to travel and explore SE Asia and is working toward combining her love of coffee with yoga.
