Assistant AST - Barista Foundation
Cadence is active in the specialty coffee industry as a trainer, competitor, and a judge. She is a regular competitor at the Brewers Cup. In 2017, she has finished 9th at the Malaysia’s Brewers Cup. She has also served as a judge in various national competitions in Australia, China, Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines. Recently, Cadence has had the opportunity to serve as one of the sensory judges at the World Barista Championship 2018 held in Amsterdam.
Cadence was first exposed to coffee as a barista at Starbucks Coffee Company, before moving to the United States to pursue her tertiary education. Influenced by the vibrant and developed coffee scenes in the United States, Cadence then decided to pursue a career in coffee and had never looked back. She is now an authorized SCA trainer, a CQI licensed Q-Grader, and a WCE certified judge.
At present, Cadence is the owner and operator of Emery School of Coffee (ESC), a training lab and coffee lounge located in the suburb of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. When she is not globetrotting with trainings, judging or competing, she enjoys brewing delicious coffees for her patrons at her coffee lounge.
