Spencer Hyman
CoFounder of CococaRunners.com

Spencer is a co-founder and director of CocoaRunners. CocoaRunners was founded in 2013 to find and supply the world's finest craft chocolate. Since then we've tasted over 6,000 bars and selected just over 800 bars from over 100+ makers that we use to supply chocolate playlists to independent coffee stores and wine shops, whilst also running a B2C website (www.cocoarunners.com) where customers can purchase gifts, individual bars and an ongoing subscription to monthly discovery box of four unique craft chocolate bars direct to our customers. We also organise Craft Chocolate Fairs (in London) and hold regular tastings at Prufrock Coffee, Curators and Colonnas plus. Spencer also does regular radio and TV slots (including Sunday Brunch).

Prior to CocoaRunners, Spencer founded and was CEO of Artfinder, COO of Last.fm and was General Manager of Technology Products for Amazon in Europe. Before moving into high tech, Spencer set up Hasbro’s operations in Japan and was also Assistant Factory Manager for Hasbro Thailand where he made Cabbage Patch Dolls and My Little Pony.

Spencer also serves as a board / advisory board member for ventures including MelodyVR, Yoyo-games, Wirewax, FlixMedia and Creative Commons. Outside of these commercial interests he is a Trustee of the Foundling Museum and loves swimming in the ponds on Hampstead Heath.

Craft Chocolate: A Sensory Journey From Bean To Bar
The craft chocolate industry shares many similarities to that of the specialty coffee market from terroir to tasting to fermentation methods. Spencer Hyman will guide us through the current craft chocolate revolution with a close look at how elements of chocolate origin and crafting can affect the final product. With tasting samples to support the presentation, attendees will be taken on a sensory journey and will be equipped with the tools to guide future customers in purchasing a chocolate they enjoy!
